Wrights Kung Fu Association
Is a nonprofit organization created, and organized by Sifu Derrick Wright and his most dedicated and loyal students. The purpose is to learn, teach, propagate and promote Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu as taught by Grandmaster Lee Kam Wing and other traditional Chinese Martial Arts.

Mr. Wright is the chief instructor at Wright's Kung Fu, The Founder and Chairman of Wright's Kung Fu Association and a closed door disciple and 8th generation successor of Grandmaster Lee Kam Wing of the International Seven Star Mantis Style Lee Kam Wing Martial Arts Association.
He has over 25 years of martial arts experience, and has been teaching for 15 years. He has owned,and operated his own martial art academies for 14 years. He continue to participate, and host many events in the Chinese Martial Arts community to promote friendship, and unity in the martial arts.
Mr. Wright is a military veteran, he served as a military policeman in the United States Marine Corps where he was deployed to the Persian Gulf War in Operation Desert Storm in both Rayad, Saudi Arabia and Al Jubail, Kuwait. He had the opportunity to be deployed and participate in Operation Cobra Gold in Pattaya, Thailand. His permanent duty stations included Okinawa, Japan and New River Air Station, Jacksonville, North Carolina.
He earned his bachelors degree in Behavior Science from California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, California with a minor in Psychology.He is currently studying the art of acting with Mr. William Alderson, "Bill" at the William Alderson Acting Studio in Hollywood, Ca.

Mr. Sargeant has been a student of Sifu Derrick Wright for more than 14 years. He is a senior board member of Wrights Kung Fu Association and a closed door disciple of Master Wright and a 9th generation successor of the Seven Star Mantis Style.
Sifu Roberto is from Valencia, Venezuela. He started training in martial arts at the age of 12 in Judo and Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate. After obtaining a degree in Aerospace Engineering at Penn State, he moved back home to Valencia, and started training in Pachi Tang Lang Quan with Sifu Carlos Izarra. When an opportunity arose, he left Venezuela again and returned to Penn State. He was introduced to Yang style Tai Chi and continued to practice Pachi Tang Lang Quan. He moved to Los Angeles in 2002 and started training with Master Wright in the Northern Shaolin Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu. After 11 years of training with Sifu Wright he was promoted to Black Belt Level 6 and received the title of “Sifu”. He continues to train with Sifu Wright and his other closed door students. At the same time he is always striding for a good balance between Kung Fu, work and spending time with his family. He particularly enjoys coaching and teaching soccer to his two young sons, hiking and just spending time by the ocean.
Mr. Smith has been a student, and training with Sifu Derrick Wright for over 14 years. He is a senior board member of Wright's Kung Fu Association, a closed door disciple of Master Wright and 9th generation successor of the Seven Star Mantis Style.
Mr. Overholser has been training with Master Wright for approximately 6 years. He is a closed door disciple an 9th generation successor of the Seven Star Praying Mantis Style.
Matthew is originally from Austin Texas, He began training in 2008 with his two two daughters. His hobbies include music and art. He plays in the local Symphony as well as with local jazz groups. He is located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Mr. Gibb has been training with Master Wright for approximately 5 years. He is currently ranked as a 2nd Degree Black Belt and plan to test for his 3rd level in the late summer of 2015 and make the commitment to become a closed door disciple of Master Wright and 9th generation successor in September 2015.
Daniel Gibb began training in Star Praying Mantis in 2004. Although it was his first introduction to the martial arts, he knew he had found the right fit. The authenticity of the style and the dedication from Sifu Wright and his students became quickly evident. An avid musician, editor and filmmaker, Daniel is constantly creating, and kung fu is the grounding force that keeps him fit, focused and ready for anything.
Mr. Beaty has been training in the martial arts for approximately 5 years, he has been training with Master Wright consistently for the last year. He was a student and acted as an assistant instructor at our sister school, California Martial Arts Academy in Irvine, CA. Currently he holds the rank of Black Belt and will test for Black Belt level 2 and make the commitment to become a closed door disciple of Master Wright and a 9th generation successor of the Seven Star Mantis Style in September 2015.
Ryan Beaty first started martial arts training in 2001 in Muncie, Indiana. Where he trained under Grand Master Jong Woo Kim and achieved his black belt in Taekwando. He later moved to California in 2005 where he started learning 7 Star Praying Mantis under Sifu John Cheng and obtaining his 2nd degree black belt. After a short break from martial arts to start a family Ryan came back to 7 Star Praying mantis under Sifu Derrick Wright consistently for the last year.
